Academics = the most passionate people you’ll ever meet

… and they LOVE to talk about what they do, especially when they have news about recent breakthroughs.

I had the opportunity to play translator (of sorts) when Texas State was building out their digital newsroom content with updates from campus. Topics varied broadly from advances in addiction treatment, infectious disease discoveries, technology and parenting trends, etc. I leaned on my interviewing skills, fact-checking abilities and natural inclination to break down complex concepts into stories the average person could find relatable.
